Automated Network Validation Library (ANVL(tm)) is an automated software testing package that checks protocol compliance and interoperability in network products such as routers, switches and remote access devices. ANVL tests how well a network product complies to a specification, giving detailed output on where the product complies and where it does not. Using negative and stress tests, ANVL also determines how robust a network product will be on a real-world network.
ANVL's main benefits are:
- ANVL comes with pre-written, thorough test suites for popular networking protocols, eliminating the need for a vendor or equipment purchaser to spend time developing its own test tools or rely on third-party results;
- ANVL eliminates the need for large amounts of test equipment since it can emulate large networks with many types of network devices;
- ANVL makes product testing quicker, allowing vendors to shorten their release times and get their products into the marketplace sooner;
- ANVL can be run automatically without supervision, which results in higher-quality products and greater confidence since products can be tested as often and thoroughly as desired.
